Margaret Wynn (Thomas) Swanson, 54, of The Woodlands, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, after suffering a massive stroke.

Margaret was born March 30, 1963 in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Noel Francis and Shirley June (Winter) Thomas.

The family moved to Bloomfield, Ind., where Margaret attended the Bloomfield schools, graduating from Bloomfield High School with the class of 1981.

After graduating with a master's degree in geophysics from Indiana University, she moved to Houston, Texas, in 1989 to pursue her career and start a family. After her son, William Patrick Swanson, was born, she devoted herself to the responsibilities of motherhood.

Her hobbies included cooking, reading, journaling, encouraging and inspiring friends and family through letters, cards, phone calls and social media, genealogy, appreciating art and architecture, listening to music, playing her flute and attending musical concerts, shopping, traveling, studying nature, stargazing, astronomy, mineralogy, geology, mushroom hunting, horseback riding, hiking, camping, exploring, gardening and landscaping.

Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Noel F. Thomas, and infant sisters Cheryl Lynn and Carol Lynn Thomas.

Survivors include her son, William Patrick Swanson, The Woodlands, Texas; her mother, Shirley Thomas of Clay City; sisters Elizabeth Thomas (Daniel Gardner) of Bloomington and Rebecca Thomas of Garden Grove, Calif.; brother Noel Scot Thomas (Alicia Reed-Thomas) of Coal City; a nephew, Logan Thomas and a niece Lauren Thomas, both of Coal City.
