Greencastle forming girls' Indy Hoops teams

Monday, August 21, 2017

Greencastle girls’ basketball coach Bradley Key is forming one team per grade for girls in grades 3-8 to play in the Indy Hoops league this fall.

“Being involved in the Indy Hoops league provides a very competitive environment where players develop their basketball skills and gain experience playing in our ‘system’,” Key said.

Games for this league will take place on Sundays, with games for grades 3-5 playing on Sept. 10th and 24th, Oct. 8th and Oct. 22nd.

Games for players in grades 6-8 will be Sept. 17th and Oct. 1st, 15th and 29th.

A tournament for all teams will be Nov. 5th and 12th, and practices will typically take place once or twice a week.

All games are played at Indianapolis-area high schools, with most of them being on the west side of Indianapolis.

Any girl in grades 6-8 interested in playing should attend a meeting tonight at McAnally Center (with a parent) from 6-7:30.

Players in grades 3-5, or those unable to attend tonight’s meeting, should e-mail middle school coach Jana Boggess at jboggess@greencastle.k12.in.us or (765) 653- 9711 ext. 253.

Each player will be asked to pay $20 for the league registration fees.

If your child did not play in the spring, she will have to have a jersey ordered. The cost is $35 for the full jersey and an optional $15 fee for a shooting shirt.

Key is also looking for volunteers to help coach Indy Hoops teams.

Anyone interested in coaching, or with additional questions, should contact coach Boggess.
