County Jail

Six people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Saturday

• At 7:40 p.m. Kyle Alan McCammon, 29, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 2:01 a.m. Dylan Wayne Phillips, 22, Poland, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

Friday

• At 8:58 p.m. Bradley James Smith, 29, Indianapolis, was arrested for false informing, driving with a suspended license and on a Marion County warrant.

• At 11:09 a.m. Dakota Collett, 22, Poland, was housed at the jail on a court order.

• At 10:35 a.m. Salina Teresa Brown, 43, Houston, was charged with possession of marijuana.

• At 10:10 a.m. Tammy Star Ferguson, 45, Houston, was booked in for possession of a controlled substance.

City Police

One weekend arrest was reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 10 p.m. Saturday, Mark Monnett, 54, Cloverdale, was stopped by Officer Luke Brown at State Road 240 and Tennessee Street for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Monnett, who registered .135 percent under portable blood-alcohol testing, was lodged in the Putnam County Jail. He faces an additional charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior offense.

Monnett also was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license and ticketed for speeding at 35 mph in a 20-mph zone.

Four additional traffic citations were issued recently by city officers.

• At 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Stephanie Bredwell was ticketed for speeding by Sgt. Eric Vaughan.

Stopped on State Road 240, Bredwell was cited for 60 mph in a 40-mph zone.

• At 11:50 p.m. Friday, Marcus Watson, 17, Greencastle, was cited for speeding by Sgt. Vaughan.

Stopped on State Road 240, Watson was ticketed for 64 mph in a 40-mph zone.

• At 10:20 p.m. Friday, James Cox, 39, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Brown.

Stopped at Bloomington and South streets, Cox was cited for disregarding a stopsign.

• At 9:01 a.m. Thursday, Charles Bentley, 26, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped at North Jackson and Daggy streets, Bentley was ticketed for being an operator never licensed.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 12:25 p.m. on Friday, Alysha M. Bettis, 27, Poland, was westbound on County Road 850 South in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Bettis told Capt. Tom Helmer she was trying to give her son an item and was partially turned in the driver’s seat as her son was seated in the right rear.

The car drove off the road and into the weed-filled ditch. The undercarriage passed over a concrete drain structure, causing significant damage.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to seven dispatches and three medical runs.

• At 7:44 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 750 S. Fillmore Rd. but was disregarded before leaving station.

• At 11:25 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. However, the alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily, prompting crews to reset the alarm and returning to station.

• At 4:58 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 406 S. Indiana St. However, the alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily, prompting crews to reset the alarm and return to station.

• At 5:44 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 493 E. Ridgeland Rd. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station.

• At 8:03 p.m. on Friday, GFD performed an odor investigation due to an active carbon-monoxide alarm at 601 Maple Ave. GFD monitored the air but found nothing and reset the alarm before returning to station.

• At 10:27 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. However, the alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to steam from hair care products. GFD subsequently reset the alarm and returned to station.

• At 12:11 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 905 S. College Ave. The second-floor alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily, prompting crews to reset the alarm and return to station.
