Janet Rae Hendershot

Janet Rae Hendershot, 74, of Greencastle, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Janet was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on Dec. 31, 1942, the daughter of C. P. and Florence (Fuchs) Earnshaw.

She was a graduate of Columbus Senior High School.

Mrs. Hendershot graduated from the Approved University of Beauty Culture, Indianapolis, and worked as a hairdresser for several years. She also worked at Sears and as a microfilm clerk at the Putnam County Courthouse for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Steve Hendershot; three children, Gregory L. Hendershot (Darcy), Greencastle, Todd A. Hendershot (Amy), Louisville, and Crystal L. Manion (Tim), Greencastle; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Austin, Abigail, Bailey, Regan and Gus; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Foster, Naples, Fla., and Judy McKinney (Tom), Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at Sherwood Christian Church, 600 Kirkwood Drive, Greencastle, with Pastor Jim Staggers officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Sherwood Christian Church. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
