First Friday to again offer local 'Taste'

Spurred on by the success of the 2016 partnership that brought Greencastle First Friday attendees to the annual Taste of Putnam County event, Main Street Greencastle and the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce have teamed up again this year.

The upcoming First Friday event, set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in downtown Greencastle, will again feature the Chamber's Taste of Putnam County event.

Along with the usual First Friday vendors, the Chamber event will feature about 20 food and drink vendors to sample.

Tickets will be available from the Chamber of Commerce for $1 each and these can be traded to food vendors for their samples.

Participants in the Taste of Putnam County include Almost Home, Blondies and Brownies Bakery, Bon Appetit, Charlie's, Completely Nuts and Candy, Eitel's & Co. Florist, Fluttering Duck, Harvest by Red Barn Farms, Hatchet House Barbecue, Moore's Bar and Grill, Mill Pond Health Campus, Myers' Market, Putnam County Hospital, Putnam Inn Family Restaurant, Scoops Ice Cream, Smoke House Barbecue, Starbucks, Tap House 24, Wasser Brewing Co. and others.

In addition to these, there will be music from The Flying Toasters, the MacDaddys, Blues Side Up and Legend Puncher and War Radio.

The schedule of bands is as follows:

North Side -- Franklin Street

5:30 -- Beth Anderson

7 p.m. -- The Flying Toasters

9 p.m. - War Radio (inside Swizzle Stick)

South Side -- Indiana Street

6 p.m. - ZooSoul Drum Circle

7 p.m. --Legend Puncher

8 p.m. -- Blues Side Up

9 p.m. -- MacDaddy's

For the kids, Big Bounce Fun House Inflatables will be on hand with fun activities.

While all of this is going on, there will also be the Taste of Hogwart's at First Christian Church across from the fire station.

This family event includes Harry Potter-based food and wands for a donation to local non-profits, as well as the Sorting Hat, card readings, potion making, a magic show and trivia for free.

Taste of Hogwart's runs from 6-8:30 p.m.
