ROCKVILLE -- A 22-year-old Putnam County man is facing two felony counts of child molesting in an incident that allegedly occurred almost three years to the day after his court appearance.

Garrison Glenn Byrd Jr., with addresses listed as both Greencastle and State Road 42, Cloverdale, made his initial appearance Thursday in Parke Circuit Court before Judge Samuel A. Swaim.

In an initial hearing conducted via video arraignment, the court entered a preliminary plea of not guilty on behalf of the defendant and set a pretrial conference in the case for Nov. 2.

Byrd was arrested Wednesday when Parke County Sheriff’s Department deputies took him into custody on an active warrant for two counts of child molesting/fondling or touching with a child under the age of 14 in an incident that allegedly occurred Sept. 1, 2014

As Level 4 felonies, the charges carry a sentencing range of 2-12 years in prison.

The warrants were issued, Parke County authorities said, as a result of an investigation that was initiated in early August. That was after reports were made to the Parke County Sheriff’s Department.

The age of the alleged victim has not been released.

Byrd is being held at the Parke County Jail on $35,000 bond.
