Russellville to celebrate its 35th annual Roundup

RUSSELLVILLE -- The 35th annual Russellers’ Roundup celebration is scheduled this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9-10.

All events will be at the Russellville Community Center with breakfast served both mornings from 8-11 a.m., featuring homemade cinnamon rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, omelets and new this year, hash browns.

Lunch/dinner will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m. Fish, tenderloin, kettle-cooked ham and beans with cornbread, coneys, hot dogs, sloppy joe, macaroni salad, potato salad, slaw, watermelon, sliced tomatoes, homemade pie and a variety of drinks will be served.

Registration Saturday for the free PhotoWalk, sponsored by Cathy Jones Photography and the Russellville Depot, will begin at 8 a.m. Also starting at 7:30 a.m. will be the all-day Photo Scavenger Hunt. There is a $5 per person registration fee for this activity. Persons are encouraged to participate in teams of four for the event. For any questions, contact Cathy Jones at 765-376-1260.

Also on Saturday, the Amish will be present with baked goods, produce and crafts. Many other vendors will also be on hand.

Registration is at 1 p.m. for the mini-tractor pull. The tractor pull begins at 2 p.m. behind the community center. For questions about the pull, contact Tom Howell at 765-866-0383.

A baby and Little Miss and Mister contest will be in the gym on Saturday at 2 p.m. Interested persons should contact Andrea Winn at 765-592-7020 to register. Registration is $3. All children are to be dressed in denim for the contest.

On Saturday, Fonda, a county western singer, will perform 3-5 p.m.

On Sunday, the North Putnam Jazz Band will perform at 1 p.m. Then performing at 2 p.m. will be John Patrick Kennedy.

Several new games have been added this year -- Pick-a-duck, Plinko, Kerplunk-XL edition, Ring Toss and Basketball Toss, which will be open on both days. A new activity this year will be using a sledge hammer car smash. Another attraction will be the smoke house.

Corn Hole registration is $20 per team. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. Jim McGaughey is in charge of this event. Persons may call Jim at 765-401-1261 for questions.

Sunday’s events will by the regular church service at 11 a.m. in the gymnasium. Registration for the car and truck show begins at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. For questions on car show, persons may contact Mike Simpson at 765-366-5551.
