Phillip R. Northcutt

Phillip R. Northcutt, 61, of Crawfordsville, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017.

Born on Dec. 7, 1955, in Crawfordsville, Phillip was the son of Robert and Mary Evelyn Northcutt.

Upon graduating from Crawfordsville High School, Phillip worked for the family business, Northcutt Gravel Co., of which he eventually became owner. He then worked for 30 years at Indiana Gas/Vectren Energy.

Phillip was actively involved serving in his local church, Hurricane Sandy relief efforts and using every opportunity he had to help others.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joanne; daughter Ruthina Veltman (Nathaniel) of Pasadena, Calif.; granddaughter Charlotte; siblings Jerry (Brenda) Northcutt, William (Joyce) Northcutt and Patricia (Pete) Allen; John, Stephanie and Lauren Watson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katrina Northcutt; his parents, Robert and Mary Evelyn Northcutt; and a sister, Sharon Kincaid.

Visitation will be held at East Side Baptist Church on Friday, Sept. 15, from 4-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at Eastside Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 with Pastors Steve Whicker and Bob Davies officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill North Cemetery.
