City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to three dispatches and one medical run.

• At 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1 E. Hanna St. The alarm was determined to have been activated unnecessarily due to a lack of water flow in the water system. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 7:46 a.m.

• At 7:36 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a near-simultaneous fire alarm at 413 S. Locust St. The alarm was also determined to have been activated unnecessarily, this time due to a bad detector head on the second floor. DePauw maintenance crews were said to be resolving the issue before GFD returned to station at 7:46 a.m.

• At 10:49 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to reports of a motor-vehicle accident at 2048 Ridgeline Rd. GFD was on scene to assist Operation Life, though the latter did not require assistance with either the lone patient from the one-vehicle crash or with cleanup of the roadway as no fluids or debris were found. GFD subsequently returned to station at 11:16 a.m.
