Share the Dream 2017 winners announced

The Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship Fund was the top fundraiser in the 2017 Share the Dream Contest with the Putnam County Community Foundation, raising $9,410. The Putnam County Community Foundation on Wednesday announced the winners of the 2017 Share the Dream Contest: Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship, Putnam County Fairgrounds Endowment and Purdue Club of Putnam County Scholarship.

A total of nearly $42,000 was raised this year during Share the Dream, the Community Foundation’s annual fundraising contest. The top three endowments raised $24,112.

The Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship raised $9,410, winning an additional $2,500 from the Community Foundation.

Founded in 2006, this scholarship fund has been awarding educational assistance to Putnam County Students since 2007. Each year a scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from each of the four county high schools.

The Putnam County Fairgrounds Endowment raised $7,752 during the annual Share the Dream contest conducted by the Putnam County Community Foundation, the second-highest total of the endowments in the contest. The Putnam County Fairgrounds Endowment raised $7,752 and won an additional $1,500 from the Community Foundation.

Founded in 2011, this endowment helps provide yearly income for maintenance and capital improvements at the fairgrounds. According to the endowment’s mission statement: “We believe there is a young 4-H’er in each of us. Helping to support the future of the fairgrounds will ensure the everlasting benefits of such a great program for our community.”

The Purdue Club of Putnam County Scholarship Endowment finished third in the recent Share the Dream contest, raising $6,950 for the endowment. The Purdue Club of Putnam County Scholarship raised $6,950 and won an additional $1,000 from the Community Foundation.

The Purdue Club of Putnam County has been awarding scholarships to Putnam County students who wish to attend Purdue University at West Lafayette since 2002. They established the endowment at the Community Foundation at the end of 2003 and plan to build their endowment to $100,000.
