The races are shaping up in the seven fall sports remaining to determine their champions in the Western Indiana Conference.

The next sport to be decided is boys’ tennis, in which the crossover matches will take place on Saturday.

Greencastle, champions of the West Division with a 3-1 record, will play at East Division champ Indian Creek. The Tiger Cubs went 3-1 to win the West, while Indian Creek was 3-0 in the East Division.

Greencastle recorded regular-season WIC wins over Sullivan (5-0), South Putnam (3-2) and West Vigo (3-2), and lost 3-2 to Northview.

The Tiger Cubs will be looking to defend their 2016 title on Saturday.

The third-place match on Saturday will have West Vigo (3-1 in conference action) at Edgewood (2-1), while the fifth-place match has South Putnam (3-2) at Owen Valley (1-2). Northview (2-2) plays at Brown County (0-3) in the seventh-place match.

Sullivan placed fifth in the West Division, but will not compete in the crossover round due to only four teams competing in the East Division. Cloverdale, North Putnam and South Putnam do not compete in boys’ tennis.

In other sports:

Soccer – Greencastle’s boys have clinched the West Division title with a 3-0 record, even though the Tiger Cubs finish their regular-season WIC schedule on Saturday at Sullivan.

Even if they lose on Saturday, the Tiger Cubs would win the tiebreaker from having defeated second-place Northview 4-0.

North Putnam finished in fifth place in the West Division and will not compete in the crossover round due to only four schools competing in the East Division.

Greencastle will host Brown County at 11 a.m. on Sept. 23 in the conference championship match.

The Tiger Cubs won the West Division title last year, but fell to Edgewood in the title match.

Brown County went 3-0 to win the East Division title.

In girls’ soccer, the Tiger Cubs are currently in third place in the West Division at 2-1, trailing Sullivan (2-0) and Northview (3-1). Greencastle plays its final WIC match on Saturday at Sullivan.

North Putnam is currently 0-3 in WIC action, and would need to beat Sullivan in its remaining league match to qualify for the crossover round.

Cross country – The conference meet will be run at Cascade on Sept. 30.

Volleyball – Crossover matches are scheduled for Oct. 5, with several matches remaining to play before the pairings are finalized.

Northview leads the West Division with a 3-0 record, while South Putnam is 0-1 and Greencastle is 0-2.
