‘Live Local, Think Global’ at PCPL

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

The “Live Local, Think Global” series at the Putnam County Public Library will welcome Erin Huang Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Huang will discuss issues facing animals and how people can get involved to affect change, which includes getting involved with policy and getting to know those who are making the laws.

Huang is the senior Indiana state director for the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). She has worked with HSUS since 2013, but has been an advocate for animal rights for many years. Huang is a graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law, where she co-founded the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund chapter at that school.

After graduation, Huang became a deputy prosecuting attorney in Marion County, Indiana, eventually focusing solely on animal cruelty offenses. During her time as a prosecutor, Huang worked with HSUS to change the laws related to animal cruelty, animal fighting and commercial breeders.
