A Greencastle dental practice is back under local ownership, with a 2010 DePauw University graduate joining the practice.

Greencastle Hometown Dental recently welcomed Franklin Street Dental to The Hometown Dental Group, owned by Dr. Dennis and Emily Knuth.

Franklin Street Dental, which formerly operated under the name 20/20 Dental, LLC, will remain at 819 East Franklin St.

Dr. Richel Geisse, or Dr. Richel as she would like to be known, a 2010 DePauw University graduate, has joined the company and will be treating patients at Franklin Street Dental.

In addition, The Hometown Dental Group has hired Joel Everson as director of business operations. Everson most recently worked for York Chevrolet Buick GMC Truck in Greencastle.

“We’re excited to return this practice to local ownership and to work together with this long-standing, trusted dental office to continue to provide exceptional care for Putnam County residents,” Dr. Knuth said. “I’m thrilled to welcome Dr. Richel and Joel to the team and we look forward to taking care of our patients.”

Dr. Richel received her doctorate degree in dental surgery from Indiana University in Indianapolis in May 2017 and has worked as a dental student provider for a variety of clinics in Indianapolis, Topeka, Ind., and Carmel.

While at DePauw, she received the Faculty Distinguished Scholar Award, served as a teaching assistant and a residence life housing assistant and babysat for several local families.

“While in school I got to know the town, not just the college, and I’m excited to be back in Greencastle, and to be part of the community again,” Dr. Richel said.

The practice at 819 E. Franklin St. had been owned and operated by local dentist Park Firebaugh until his retirement in 2015.

A community open house and ribbon cutting for Franklin Street Dental will take place in October. Current patients and all county residents are encouraged to attend and meet Dr. Richel.
