Bethesda Christian 6, North Putnam 0 (boys) — The Patriots scored two goals in the first half and four more in the second half to record the sectional victory.

“We started out very strong defensively, limiting them to long shots and looking to counter attack,” NP coach Curt Krominaker said. “This was working well until one of the shots from distance found the top of the net.”

Krominaker noted his team started the game with only two substitutes, and after the first 30 minutes was down to only one substitute.

“Going into the second half, we still felt good about our chances but knew we had to open the field more in order to score,” he said. “As we chased the game, it opened the field for them to counter attack and we gave up a few more goals in the second half than we would have if we had stayed more defensive.”

Despite the defeat, Krominaker was proud of how his team played.

“Being shorthanded, the guys gave all they had for as long as they could,” he said. “This group has really developed well and learned to play against anyone. It has been a pleasure to coach this group this season, especially our seniors [Terran Wittig, Tyler Thompson, Alex Krominaker and Caleb Duncan.]
