Perry Seth Huxford, 90, of rural Rosedale, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

He was born in Parke County on Sept. 13, 1927 to Ivan Raymond Huxford and Helen Rebecca (Nowling) Huxford.

He married Donna M. DeGroff on Nov. 29, 1945, and she survives.

Perry served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force Reserves.

He was a member of the 841 Operating Engineers for more than 10 years at which time he joined the New York Central Railroad as a fireman and later as an engineer. He retired from Conrail in 1991 after 38 years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 290, VFW Post 972, and the John Martin Chapter Sons of the American Revolution.

Perry is survived by his wife Donna; three children, Karen McHargue (Dick) of Roachdale, David Huxford (Rhonda) of Parke County, and Sharon Mattison (Marv) of Terre Haute. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

He was preceded in death by all of his siblings and their spouses, including sisters Geneva Alkire (Carl), Virginia Michael (Jewel), Rosemary Hodson (Ed), and brother Ivan Huxford Jr. (Pat). He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael Shawn Huxford and Rena Huxford Alexander.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, Terre Haute. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Perry Major officiating.

Perry will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park.
