North Putnam (4-4, 3-2) at Cloverdale (3-5, 3-2)

Special events: Senior Night.

The coaches: Sam Carnes is in his first season at North Putnam. Tom Winders is in his first year at Cloverdale.

The history: North Putnam won 27-9 at Cloverdale on Sept. 15 and holds a 29-9 advantage over the past 30 years.

So far: North Putnam lost 34-10 to Indian Creek, lost 49-27 to Southmont, beat South Putnam 48-21, lost 47-27 to Sullivan, beat Cloverdale 27-9, lost 41-35 to Northview and beat West Vigo 28-21 and Greencastle 10-0. Cloverdale lost 20-6 to South Putnam, lost 21-13 to Greencastle, beat Edgewood 19-10, lost 27-0 to Cascade, lost 27-9 to North Putnam, beat Brown County 53-18, beat Owen Valley 20-9 and lost 34-0 to Indian Creek.

WIC impact: The winner will finish in fifth place, and the loser will finish in sixth.

Per-game point averages: Offense – North Putnam 26.5, Cloverdale 15.0. Defense – North Putnam 27.8, Cloverdale 20.8.

Opponents’ records: North Putnam 36-28, Cloverdale 27-37.

Coach Carnes on his team: “Our defense has been playing great football the last two weeks, and we’re looking to continue to build off of that. Offensively, we are hungry for another opportunity to play Cloverdale again, and see if we can protect the ball better this time. We’ve been told that even though we won the county championship that this is still a Bucket game, so we are excited for a fourth opportunity this year to keep the Bucket.”

Coach Carnes on Cloverdale: “Coach Winders’ team has gotten a lot better since the beginning of the year. His kids play hard and have a lot of talent. Their offense has big play ability that we have to do a better job of stopping this time around.”

Coach Winders on the game: “We have had a great week of practice. As a coach of Cloverdale I really couldn’t be more proud. This is a really big week with it being Senior Night. The emotions I’m sure will be running high. Coach Carnes really has his team on a roll right now. They are really playing very good ball. They got us the first round we are hoping for a different outcome this time. Please come out to Clover Country and support the team and see these seniors off in Cloverdale fashion.”

South Putnam (1-7, 0-5) at Brown County (3-5, 2-3)

The coaches: Nathan Aker is in his fourth year at South Putnam with a record of 19-22. Randy Minniear is in his second year at Brown County with a record of 4-14.

The history: Brown County won 21-14 at South Putnam on Aug. 25. South Putnam has won three of the four games the teams have played in the past 30 years.

So far: South Putnam beat Cloverdale 20-6 and lost 21-14 to Brown County, 48-21 to North Putnam, 49-7 to Greencastle, 21-0 to Edgewood, 31-0 to West Vigo, 63-6 to Sullivan and 63-6 to Northview. Brown County beat Edinburgh 46-14 and South Putnam 21-14, lost 15-8 to Cascade and 52-7 to Indian Creek, beat Southside Home School 39-7 and lost 53-18 to Cloverdale, 21-18 to Edgewood and 33-0 to Owen Valley.

WIC impact: The winner will finish in 11th place, and the loser will finish 12th.

Coach Aker on his team: “We’re looking forward to traveling down to Brown County this Friday evening. It’s not very often that you get a second chance after taking a tough loss to a team earlier in the season. We’ve had a good week of practice thus far and we look forward to showing improvement from earlier in the season.”

Coach Aker on Brown County: “Brown County is a good young football team. They’ve got an outstanding quarterback and wide receiver combination. We must play sound pass defense and get pressure on the quarterback. Offensively, we must sustain long drives and create success in the red zone.”

Greencastle (4-4, 1-4) at Edgewood (3-5, 2-3)

Media coverage: WGRE-FM 91.5 will broadcast the game.

The coaches: Mike Meyer is in his 11th year at Greencastle with a record of 33-47. Brian Rosenburgh is in his first year at Edgewood.

The history: Edgewood won 36-13 on Oct. 24 in sectional action. Greencastle holds a 15-14 advantage in the series over the past 30 years.

So far: Greencastle beat Crawfordsville 10-0 and Cloverdale 21-13, lost 14-0 to West Vigo, beat South Putnam 49-7 and Cascade 37-0 and lost 41-10 to Sullivan, 22-20 to Northview and 10-0 to North Putnam.

WIC impact: The winner will finish in ninth place, and the loser will finish 10th.

Per-game point averages: Offense – Greencastle 18.4, Edgewood 15.9. Defense – Greencastle 13.4, Edgewood 31.4.

Opponents’ records: Greencastle 28-36, Edgewood 30-34.
