County Jail

Two people were recently booked into the Putnam County Jail.

Monday

• At 3:21 a.m., Christopher J. Campbell, 49, of Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on charges of possession marijuana and operating a vehicle while intoxicated,

• At 9:18 p.m., Corey L. Duff, 20, of Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One arrest was reported Monday afternoon by Greencastle City Police.

• At 12:45 p.m., Chad M. Baun, 33, of Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Kyle Lee after a traffic stop at North Jackson and Elizabeth streets.

During the stop, GPD K9 officer Cain reportedly sniffed out a drug hit on the vehicle and Baun was arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Sheriff’s Department

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department recently responded to six property-damage accidents and one personal injury accident.

• On Oct. 1 at 11:12 p.m., Dilen J. Daniel, 20, of Spencer, was northbound on State Road 243 North near Cloverdale in a 2002 Dodge Durango Sport when he hit a deer at 60 mph, veered off the road and rolled onto his driver’s side.

There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed by Curtis Garage & Wrecker Service.

Deputy Anthony Brown estimated damage at $5,001 - $10,000.

Thursday

• At 7:55 a.m., Amanda S. McCammack, 26, of Centerpoint, was eastbound on County Road 300 South near Greencastle in a 2014 Hyundai when she hit a deer.

There were no injuries. Lt. Donnie Pettit estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 9:14 a.m., Candi E. Jewell, 58, of Poland, was westbound on County Road 125 South near Greencastle in a 2005 Ford Explorer when she veered off the road due to wet pavement and damaged a fence belonging to Richard Butler, Greencastle.

There were no injuries. Lt. Pettit estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 10:46 a.m., Geoffrey W. McClellan, 33, of Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 550 South near Greencastle in a 2004 Dodge Durango when he veered off the road due to wet pavement and worn tires, hit a tree and damaged a fence belonging to William Wilson, of Cloverdale.

There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed by Seniour’s Towing.

Lt. Pettit estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

Friday

• At 11:29 a.m., Caitlyn S. Osborn, 18, of Bainbridge, was southbound on County Road 550 East near Fillmore in a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser when she was reportedly going 60-70 mph in a 45-mph zone, veered from the road, damaged a road sign and rolled completely over.

Although Osborn and her passenger complained of pain, there were no injuries.

The vehicle was towed by Jerry’s Towing. Deputy Brown estimated damage at $5,001 - $10,000.

Monday

• At 5:15 p.m., Kenneth R. Stanley, 55, of Bainbridge, was southbound on U.S. 231 near Cloverdale in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado when he reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and his truck struck the left front side of a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by Rachael N. Kimberling, 23, of Ladoga.

Kimberling and one of her passengers was transported to Putnam County Hospital for evaluation and complaint of pain.

Stanley, who suffered a facial abrasion, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and operating while intoxicated.

Both vehicles were towed by Curtis Garage & Wrecker Service.

Deputy Jeffrey Freeman estimated damage at $10,001-$25,000.

Tuesday

• At 7:32 a.m., Steve C. Murray, 50, of Terre Haute, was eastbound on County Road 150 West (Manhattan Road) near Greencastle in a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 when he hit a deer.

There were no injuries. Capt. Tom Helmer estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to two disptaches.

• At 6:53 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to reports of a motor-vehicle accident at 817 N. Jackson St. Crews arrived to find a car had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole just north of the intersection at Jackson Street and Shadowlawn Avenue. GFD assisted with the removal of debris and fluids from the roadway before subsequently returning to station.

• At an undisclosed time on Thursday morning (dispatch times were not made readily available upon request), GFD responded to reports of a motor-vehicle accident with injury at 1542 S. Bloomington St. (Putnam County Hospital). The single-vehicle accident resulted in patient care from Operation Life with the assistance of the fire department. GFD also removed fluids and debris from the roadway before returning to station.
