Robert Higgins Rooker

Robert Higgins Rooker, 84, of Bainbridge, died on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 at home surrounded by his children.

Born Dec. 14, 1932, he was the son of Joseph and Edna Higgins Rooker.

He married Shirley Lukenbill on Aug. 2, 1952, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2012.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, his sister Mary Ellen Bunn, daughter George Rooker, granddaughter Tiffany Mauk and great-grandson Robert Cade Mauk.

Survivors include daughters Rusa Rooker, of North Salem, and Robin Lambermont and husband Jim, of Troy, Mo.; sons Richard Rooker, of Bainbridge, and Recco Rooker and wife Dee, of Bainbridge; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a brother, JB Rooker of North Salem.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Bainbridge High School. He was retired from IBM and farming.

He was a Korean War veteran and a 50-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was a Bainbridge and Cougar sports superfan.

A celebration of life will take place at the Bainbridge Community Building on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22 from 3-6 p.m.

A private family graveside service at the Bainbridge Cemetery will be held at later date.
