County Jail

Two people were booked in the Putnam County Jail on Monday.

• At 8:13 p.m. Andrew Jackson Bradley, 40, Spencer, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 6:11 p.m. Ryan Michael Bittner, 37, Bourbon, Mo., was taken into custody for theft.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police.

• At 12:44 a.m. Tuesday, Christopher Smith, 25, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Taken into custody at South Indiana and Vine streets, Smith was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Putnam County warrant for theft and criminal trespass.

• At 2:55 p.m. Monday, Roy Allen Mitchell, 28, Cloverdale, was arrested on Ridgeland Road by Officer Darrel Bunten.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Mitchell was arrested for illegal possession of a controlled substance and a Putnam County warrant for contempt of court.

One speeding citation was issued recently by city officers.

• At 6:13 a.m. Sunday, Yonesha Mitchell, 25, Terre Haute, was ticketed by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Mitchell was cited for 73 mph in a 30-mph zone.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated a pair of recent traffic mishaps.

• At 5:22 a.m. on Tuesday, Donald L. Barger, 38, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 300 South at the intersection of County Road 37 West in a 2008 Ford F250 when he hit a deer.

Deputy Scott Ducker estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 11:52 a.m. on Thursday, Mark E. Dunahoo, 54, Fillmore, was northbound on County Road 550 East at the intersection of County Road 200 North in a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada.

Dunahoo told Lt. Donnie Pettit that his brakes malfunctioned and he lost control in an S-curve. The SUV left the east side of the road and hit a power pole.

A StatFlight helicopter transported Dunahoo to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, for head and leg injuries.

Pettit cited the driver for driving with a suspended license, driving a vehicle with the incorrect registration number and driving without proof of financial responsibility.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
