Saturday event offers drug awareness, naloxone training

Thursday, November 2, 2017

With leaders at all levels of government decrying the opioid epidemic in the United States, a grassroots organization in Putnam County is doing what it can to make a difference.

Prescription for Life is sponsoring a Saturday event for drug awareness, education and free naloxone training.

The event will take place at 2 p.m. at Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Lane.

The event will feature speakers Brandon Drake and Janice Wilson Dobbs.

Perhaps even more importantly, participants will be trained in the use of naloxone, which can reverse the effects of an opiate overdose.

Local officers have been carrying naloxone for more than two years, with Greencastle Police reporting two overdose saves.

Prescription For Life (formerly known as Making A Difference) is a group whose mission is to advance policies and attitudes which embrace family-centered solutions for positive change.
