Edith Fry, 94, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 5, 2017 at Mill Pond Health Campus.

Edith was born on the family farm located in Bainbridge on Feb. 11, 1923. She was the daughter of Harvey and Lola (Proctor) Nichols.

Edith was baptized at the Fillmore Christian Church.

She graduated from Bainbridge High School and married Noble C. Fry on Aug. 13, 1941 at Fillmore Christian Church. Noble and Edith celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary this year.

Noble and Edith owned dairy farms in Putnam and Montgomery counties.

She was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church. Edith was a charter member of the Town & Country Home Economics Club. She was also a member of Putnam County Farm Bureau Inc., Putnam County Past Presidents, president of the Putnam County Extension Homemakers Council, superintendent of Harris Hall and the Putnam County Fair Board.

Edith was the Putnam County Homemaker of the Year in 1980.

She helped organize the Putnam County Porkettes. She served on the committee for Putnam County Ag Day and took baby farm animals to elementary schools. She and her husband received the Putnam County Farm Family of the Year in 1990.

Edith was the secretary and recorder for the anniversary for the Parkersburg Christian Church.

Edith is survived by her husband, Noble C. Fry; son Phillip Fry (Janice) and daughter-in-law, Ruth Fry. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Burkett; brother Dallas Nichols; sister-in-law Coleen Nichols; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Ralph C. Fry, daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Russel Brown; brother and sister-in-law, Herschel and Jane Nichols, brothers, Robert and Doyle Nichols; sister-in-law, Anne Nichols and Charlene Nichols; brother-in-law Howard Burkett, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George and Mary Dawson, Gregory and Edna Fry.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Parkersburg Christian Church, 86 E. 1150 South, Ladoga, with Pastor Alan Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family at the church from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7. Memorial contributions may be made to Town & Country Home Economics Club, c/o Vonda Phelps, 10803 S. 375 East Ladoga, IN 47954.
