Friday

Edgewood (3-1) at South Putnam (1-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. varsity tipoff.

The coaches: Gary Sims is in his 11th year at Edgewood with a record of 155-96. Brian Gardner is in his third year at South Putnam with a record of 26-23.

So far: Edgewood defeated West Vigo 56-20, South Vermillion 66-59 and Greencastle 51-45 before losing 78-33 to Bloomington South. South Putnam won its opener 54-50 over Rockville on Tuesday.

The history: Edgewood won 51-43 at Ellettsville last year and has won 12 of the last 16 meetings between the teams.

Key players: Senior Melea Shockney averaged 14.34 points through Edgewood’s first three games, while Taylor Acuff averaged 13.7, Kaylee Meyer averaged 11.0 and Claire Phillips averaged 10.3. Freshman Taylor Minnick was the team’s leading rebounder with a 7.5 average.

Lillie Stein led South Putnam with 24 points against Rockville, while Miranda Bieghler had 11 points and Caitlin Capps had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Saturday

Beech Grove (1-0) at Greencastle (0-2)

Game time: 1:30 p.m. varsity tipoff.

The coaches: Kristin Raker is in her third year at Beech Grove with a record of 29-17. Bradley Key is in his ninth year at Greencastle with a record of 112-69.

So far: Beech Grove opened its season on Tuesday with a 62-43 win at Tri-West. Greencastle has lost 51-45 to Edgewood and 50-22 to Owen Valley.

The history: Beech Grove won 52-25 last year in Indianapolis and has won the past three meetings between the teams.

Key players: For Greencastle, Rose White averages 9.5 points per game, while Bailey Shuee averages 6.5, Seelye Stoffregen averages 6.0 and Jalyn Duff averages 5.5.

Shakamak (2-1) at Cloverdale (3-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. varsity tipoff.

The coaches: Kris Landry is in his second year at Shakamak with a record of 9-17. Matthew Langdon is in his seventh year at Cloverdale with a record of 50-87.

So far: The Lakers opened the season by defeating West Vigo 34-24 and Washington Catholic 33-24 before losing 60-22 to Northview on Thursday. Cloverdale defeated Turkey Run 85-20, Riverton Parke 65-34 and North Central 89-56.

The history: Cloverdale won 78-55 at Jasonville last year. Shakamak has won eight of the last 14 meetings between the teams.

Key players: Juniors Cloe Hinkle and Moriah Messmer led Shakamak in scoring in the team’s first two games, each averaging 11.0 points per game.

Cloverdale is led by junior Tori Combs, who averages 19.0 points and 15.0 rebounds. Abby Walker adds 16.3 points per game, while Sammie Shrum chips in with 14.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and Hailey Thomas averages 11.3 points per game.
