Nov. 29 program to focus on Indiana farmland rental

Monday, November 13, 2017

Throughout the year, many individuals ask what the “going rate” is for farmland rental prices. That is a difficult question to answer. The rate fluctuates and is highly dependent on the individual farm ground being discussed.

To assist individuals in understanding the different aspects of farmland rental, Purdue Extension and the Putnam County Soil & Water Conservation District are hosting a Farmland Rental in Indiana program on Wednesday, Nov. 29.

The Farmland Rental in Indiana program will cover:

· Farmland Property Taxes in Indiana by Larry DeBoer, Purdue University.

· Managing Your Land as a Resource by Kristi Kennedy, USDA NRCS.

· Farmland Lease Basics by Jenna Nees, Purdue Extension and Putnam County SWCD.

The program will take place at the Putnam County Fairgrounds, 191 N U.S. 231, Greencastle, from 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 29.

The program is free, although it is asked that persons register by Nov. 27 by contacting the Purdue Extension Office at 653-8411 or smith535@purdue.edu.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, contact Jenna Nees at 653-8411, or email smith535@purdue.edu by Nov. 22.
