Eugene "Gene" M. Liebert, 81, Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017.

He was born Jan. 9, 1936 in Shelbina, Mo., the son of Elbert and Ethel Liebert.

Gene had worked at CARQUEST Auto Parts, Bill Robertson Chrysler Dealership, owned and operated the Shell gas station on the south side of Greencastle and was a truck driver with Schwermann and Schneider Trucking.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War and a member of the American Legion and VFW, Greencastle. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1592 and the NRA. He was an avid trap and skeet shooter, bowler, and golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Terri Lynn Liebert, son Dale Eugene Liebert, sister Juanita Liebert and grandson Mikey Eugene Liebert.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Dickey) Liebert; son Coy Dickey; a brother, Bill Liebert of Klammoth Falls, Ore.; grandchildren Maggie Liebert, Britney (William) Liebert Barth, Aaron Liebert, Sabrina (Andres) Chandler, Mitchell Francis and Owen Query; brothers-in-law Orville (Laura) Dickey and George Dickey; and extended family Cathy (Brad) King Church, Carolyn (Jeff) Hendrex and their children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment with military honors will follow at the Clinton Falls Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the funeral home.
