PCF Office of Investigation and Intelligence Investigator Angela Taylor and Investigator Rob Evans recently received information which sparked an investigation into Officer Breanna Lee Clements.

During questioning, Officer Clements admitted to trafficking tobacco into Putnamville Correctional Facility with the intent to deliver the contraband to offender Travis Rooney.

The 27-year-old Rooney, who is currently serving a sentence for robbery and burglary out of Elkhart County, has an earliest possible release date of Aug. 15, 2018.

Currently being held in the facility's restricted housing unit, Rooney is being investigated for his role in the incident.

Officer Clements was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Putnam County Jail. She faces preliminary charges of official misconduct, a Level 6 felony, and trafficking tobacco, a Class A misdemeanor.

"It is sad to see our own staff involved in trafficking, but they are not above the law," PCF Warden Brian Smith said. "Any trafficker will be held accountable, and will be prosecuted to ensure the safety and security of our facility, as well as the department."
