One of only two seniors on 12-player honor squad

After leading Greencastle to its first sectional title since 2002, Greencastle’s Maggie Meyer has been named the Putnam County Player of the Year for the second straight year.

Meyer, a senior libero, had 44 service aces, 19 kills, 13 assists, 459 serve receptions (only aced 26 times) and 446 digs (5.2 per set).

She also provided on-court leadership as the only upperclassman on the Greencastle team.

Meyer also guided the Tiger Cubs to their fifth straight Putnam County championship. She is undecided on her college choice, but plans to play college volleyball and is considering Marian University and some other small schools.

Meyer is one of only two seniors on the honor squad, chosen by the county coaches, joining Miranda Bieghler of South Putnam.

The youthful 12-player team also includes juniors Jada Amis and Jalyn Duff of Greencastle and Tori Combs of Cloverdale and sophomores Kenzie Stoltz and Hailey Thomas of Cloverdale, Bradi Gierke and Clarissa Gibson of North Putnam and Allison Stevens of Greencastle.

Freshman members of the team are South Putnam’s Grace Burdge and Chloe Custis.
