Community Christmas Choir announces annual cantata

Friday, November 24, 2017

The Community Christmas Choir has announced its annual Christmas Cantata concert, this year titled “How to Have the Best Christmas Ever.”

The concert will be performed at the Russellville Community Center on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

In the midst of the craziness that seems to overtake the world during the holidays, it’s easy to be distracted from the true meaning of Christmas and lose sight of the message that Christ came to be our Savior.

Dinner will be served by the Russellville Community Center one hour prior to each performance. The menu will include salisbury steak, beef ‘n noodles and chicken ‘n noodles. A free-will offering will be collected for the meal to benefit the Russellville Community Center.

Christmas bake sale items will also be available before and after each of the three performances. The holiday goodies are donated by the volunteer members who make up the Community Christmas Choir. A free-will donation will also be accepted for these goodies to offset the expenses of the Community Christmas Choir.

Donated non-perishable food items will also be collected at the door and then distributed to food banks in Parke, Putnam and Montgomery counties. Attendees’ kindness, consideration and generosity can make a considerable difference to someone in your own community this year.

Erik Foster

This year features Erik Foster as the new cantata director. Foster has been involved in the music business since 1990.

After settling in Indiana, he was able to connect with Gaither Music Group when a producer for Praise Gathering decided to have Foster join them on a worship project. Since then, he has become widely used as a background singer in the Indianapolis studio circuit.

Foster still travels between Nashville and Indianapolis, taking part in recording sessions for various publishing companies. He also writes background vocals and creates lead sheets and orchestrations.
