Wilma Malayer Zimmerman

Wilma (Malayer) Zimmerman, 87, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 at home in Brownsburg.

Born on March 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Burley and Veda Malayer of Roachdale.

She married George "Pete" Zimmerman on Nov. 5, 1960. He preceded her in death.

She attended New Maysville School, Bainbridge High School and Porter College.

In addition to farming with Pete, she worked at Cornelius Printing, and with her brother, veterinarianJerry "Doc" Malayer, and for the State of Indiana for Gov. Evan Bayh

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and supporting the Democratic party.

Survivors include daughters Linda (York) Smith (Richard) of Brookston and Cynthia (Zimmerman) Weller (Brian) of Brownsburg; grandchildren Brian (CJ) Smith of Ft. Collins, Colo., Beth Smith of Seattle, Wash., Peter (Margo) York of Noblesville, Anthony (Erin) York of Denver, Colo., and Bo Weller of Brownsburg; great-grandchildren Ian, Rachel and Allison Smith and Ava York; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers Jerry, John, James and Wilfred Malayer, and son Larry "Butch" York.

A celebration of life is being planned for the spring.
