Clover girls romp past Eastern Greene, 74-17

Monday, November 27, 2017

LITTLE CINCINNATI — Cloverdale led 27-3 after one quarter on Saturday and were never challenged in improving their record to 6-1 on the season with a 74-17 win over Eastern Greene.

“We started out strongly, and sometimes on a Saturday you don’t always do that,” Cloverdale coach Matthew Langdon said. “We hit some shots and created some turnovers. In the second half, we did some good things that we’ve been working on, such as slowing things down and getting shots in the halfcourt.”

Langdon thought his team played well after a week off from game competition.

“The girls came out and played really well,” he said. “We know that North Putnam will be up for us [tonight]. Coach [Jarrod] Duff always gets his team to play hard.”

Tori Combs had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the Clovers, while Sammie Shrum added 17 points, six rebounds and five steals, Abby Walker had 13 points and three assists and Hailey Thomas had 12 points, three steals and four assists.

Cloverdale led 39-7 at halftime and 62-12 after three quarters.

Eastern Greene fell to 1-4 with the loss.
