2017 All-Putnam County Football Team: Winslow, Rudes win individual awards

Greencastle’s Cade Winslow and North Putnam’s Hayden Rudes were voted the defensive and offensive players of the year, respectively, for the 2017 All-Putnam County football Team.

Winslow anchored one of the state’s top defenses, finishing second in the state in sacks with 19.0 and 29th in the state in tackles with 138 (11.5 per game). Of those tackles, 96 were solo.

Rudes quarterbacked North Putnam to the county championship this season, accounting for 1,704 yards of offense. Rudes passed for 1,455 yards and 12 touchdowns, with just five interceptions.

Rudes completed 51.6 percent of his passes, with a long of 80 yards. He also rushed for 249 yards and seven touchdowns, with a long run of 45 yards. He averaged 2.8 yards per carry.

The county coaches met and voted on the members of the 32-player honor squad.

Other Greencastle members of the team were running back Damon Moody, defensive linemen Gavin Bollman and Jacob Meyer, linebackers Trever Wood and Brayden Bollman, kicker Evan Crowe and defensive backs Alex Costin, Tanner Sanders and Abe Wade.

North Putnam also placed offensive linemen Luke Sanford and Jake Powell, wide receiver Gage Bell, tight end Dillon Binnion, running back Ethan Christy, special teams performer Scott Proctor and defensive at-large team member Zach Culberson on the all-county squad.

Cloverdale players on the team are offensive lineman T.J. Hagymasi and Ethan Radford, wide receiver Tyler Kaeff, running back Tyce Jackson, punter Trey Henry, defensive lineman Jake Wilkes, linebacker Nick Winders and defensive back Drew Boyette.

South Putnam is represented by offensive lineman Porter High, wide receiver Kain Gregory, quarterback Christian Zeffel, offensive at-large member Danton Glover, defensive lineman Nick Theis and linebacker Dalton Scott.

The team was dominated by seniors with 19, while 11 juniors were chosen and two sophomores.
