Greencastle American Legion helps clean up S.R. 240

Friday, November 17, 2017

To the Editor:

On the morning of Oct. 21, sixteen members of the American Legion Family Post 58 wearing reflector vests conducted our semi-annual “Adopt-A-Highway” trash pickup.

Our two-mile section of highway is State Road 240 east of Greencastle from mile markers 2-4. This is a dangerous section of narrow highway in Putnam County with blind curves and hills.

We picked up 31 bags of trash, which helps keep a major entry to Greencastle clean and beautiful.

We would like to thank Sheriff Scott Stockton, Capt. Tom Helmer and Deputy Matt Biggs of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department for slowing traffic to help keep us safe.

This joint effort provides a valuable community service.

Thank you.
