To The Editor:

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in the wonderful Mind Your Health Run/Walk, held Oct. 6 at DePauw’s Nature Park.

Emphasizing the tie between physical and mental health, this benefit walk for Mental Health America of Putnam County (MHAoPC), which serves to promote community wide mental health, was blessed with perfect autumn weather.

This year we were delighted to team up with DePauw University’s Chapter of “Exercise is Medicine” (EIM), an organization which promotes the importance of physical activity and advocating exercise as an integral part of health and daily life. Our critical event planning was done by EIM’s Sam Ostreicher, and MHAoPC Board members Christina Wagner and Dan McMurtry. Lee and Susan Stewart, long-time coordinators of this race, were again integral to the Run/Walk by sponsoring and lending race materials to us.

Writing of contributors, we’d like to sincerely thank the following sponsors: Putnamville United Methodist Church, Teacher Credit Union, Nucor, Old National Bank, First National Bank, North Salem State Bank, Dr. John D. Hennette, DDS, and Kroger who donated bananas for the event.

A special thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who donated their time, and all the runners and walkers who were able to participate.

MHAoPC is dedicated to improving the quality of life of Putnam County residents impacted by mental illnesses through advocacy, education, collaboration, support services and prevention activities throughout the county.

Without our participants and sponsors, we wouldn’t have this event and would find it more difficult to continue our mission in Putnam County. We sincerely thank everyone who participated in our fundraiser, as their generosity allows us to providing quality programs in Putnam County.

Thank you all for helping us to help others.
