Holiday wrapping offered Dec. 16 in Civic League projects fundraiser

Monday, December 11, 2017

The Greencastle Civic League is providing holiday gift wrapping on Dec. 16 for area residents.

The service is provided free of charge, but donations are requested. Funds raised will support upcoming beautification projects in Greencastle by the nonprofit.

Members of the Greencastle Civic League will wrap gifts from 2-6 p.m. at The Inn at DePauw and Event Center.

“We are excited to usher in the holiday season by providing wrapping to those who might need an extra pair of hands,” Heather Wright, president of the Greencastle Civic League, said. “We have an exciting year ahead of us in 2018 and donations will help us accomplish those goals.”

Businesses which contributed in-kind goods and services for the fundraiser include The Inn at DePauw, Kroger, Shoe Sensation, Walmart Distribution and Walmart.

The Greencastle Civic League was founded in 1984 with a mission to improve life in Greencastle, primarily through beautification, clean-up projects, cultural development and the arts.

Major projects have included construction of the Emerald Palace playground at Robe-Ann Park, creation of the Bob York Splash Park and a number of murals downtown.

The group is currently helping to raise funds for the new bandshell and facilitates ParkFest, the 4th of July Pancake Breakfast and two annual clean-ups of its sponsored portion of the Veterans Memorial Highway.
