Candidate packets available for pickup

Candidate packets are now available for anyone wanting to seek local office in the 2018 election.

County Voter Registration Clerk Stacia Hathaway reports that packets may be turned in beginning Wednesday, Jan. 10.

The deadline to turn in a packet for candidates wishing to appear on the primary ballot is noon on Friday, Feb. 9.

County-level offices up for election in 2018 include prosecutor, clerk of courts, recorder, sheriff, surveyor, assessor, county commissioner District 2, county council District 1, county council District 2, county council District 3 and county Council District 4. All township trustees and advisory board positions will be up for grabs.

In the Town of Cloverdale, two positions on the town council will be on the ballot: Ward 3 and an at-large position.

Finally, a number of school board positions will also be up for grabs.

In the North Putnam district, the Clinton, Floyd and Jackson township positions are on the ballot.

In the South Putnam district, Jefferson and Warren township board positions are up for grabs.

On the Cloverdale School Board, one Cloverdale Township position is in play, as are the Jennings and Taylor township positions in Owen County.

The Owen County positions must be registered for at the Owen County Courthouse.
