Roachdale to host Milk and Cookies with Santa Claus
ROACHDALE -- Clerk-Treasurer Debbie Sillery announced during the Roachdale Town Council’s regular meeting that Santa Claus will be at the park for “Milk and Cookies with Santa” Dec. 22 from 6-8 p.m.
Volunteers and 200 empty milk jugs are still needed for the event. Bring milk jugs to the Roachdale Town Hall Volunteers should contact Sillery at 765-522-1532.
In other news:
-- Claims: The council approved claims at a total of $150,424.85. The council also approved a $5,004.87 bid to install fencing at the sewer plant, another $450 bid to repair fencing at the water tower and a third bid of $17,273 for repairs to utility pump parts.
-- Dog tags: Clerk-Treasurer Sillery announced that new dog tags can be purchased for $5 per dog before March and $10 per dog after that.
-- Felony theft: Clerk-Treasurer Sillery announced that it is felony theft to cut locks on water meters after water services have been disconnected.
In a recent case, a resident used 1,000 gallons of water after services were disconnected for non-payment. Town Marshal Mike Mahoy said a report has been sent to the prosecutor.
-- Noise ordinance: The council may consider changes to Ordinance 6-2014, which regulates noise in town. The current quiet hours set by the ordinance are 10 p.m. - 6 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
-- Roachdale Police Department (RPD): The council approved $1,267.15 for police car repairs. Also, the RPD responded to several dispatch calls for: one harassment/stalking/threating; one sexual assault; two disturbance/nuisance; one child custody case; one damage/vandalism/mischief; one theft (larceny) and one suspicious person activity/wanted person.
-- Utilities: The utilities office will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.
The Roachdale Town Council’s next regular meeting is set for Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Roachdale Town Hall at 205 N. Indiana St., Roachdale.
