Greencastle wins all three dual matches; has nine individual champs

BAINBRIDGE — Greencastle won all three matches in the triple dual format to capture the Putnam County wrestling championship on Thursday night at North Putnam.

Greencastle defeated Cloverdale 58-15 in the first round, South Putnam 60-6 in the second round and North Putnam 53-21 in the third round to claim the title.

North Putnam finished second, earning a 52-24 win over South Putnam in the first round and a 66-15 win over Cloverdale in the second round.

South Putnam earned third place with a 40-36 win in the third round.

Greencastle had nine individual champions — Mark Roberts (106), Logan Carrington (120), Jacob Baker (126), Brach Carrington (143), Cauy Thomas (138), Michael Anderson (145), Trace Thomas (170), Cade Winslow (195) and Austin Stockall (220).

North Putnam had four winners, with A.J. Ezman (113), Jacob Scott (152), Isaiah Kimes (160) and Reuben Edwards (182) all placing first.

South Putnam’s Darnell Bennett won the 285-pound class for his team’s lone victory.
