Byron Millard Halfhill

Byron Millard Halfhill, 82, passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute following an accident at home.

He was born in Bowling Green, Ind., on Feb. 10, 1935 to the late Carl and Florence (Greenwood) Halfhill.

Byron graduated from Bowling Green High School and served his country in the United States Army.

He married Florence Dickison on Aug. 12, 1961. They were members of the Community Missionary Church.

Mr. Halfhill retired from IBM after 31 years of service.

Byron was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and loved spending time with family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, mowing grass, hunting, fishing, watching cowboy shows, as well as watching and playing basketball.

He was preceded in death by his son, Byron Halfhill Jr; brothers Donald "Max" Halfhill, Gene Halfhill and Ovid "Dub" Halfhill; and sister Berly Ruth Morand.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Halfhill, Brazil; a son, Steve (Lisa Jo) Halfhill, Clay City; a daughter, Kimberly (Joe) Garza, Terre Haute; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Faye Halfhill, Brazil; a bother, Clyde (Effie Louise) Halfhill, Brazil; three sisters, Lucille Morlan, Brazil, Linda Schiele, Bowling Green, and Carlene (Eddie) Dickison, Brazil; six grandchildren Kristi (Joel) Campbell, Eric Halfhill, Valerie Garza, Joey Garza, Nick Garza and Skyler Halfhill; and four great-grandchildren Chase, Brilynn and Addison Campbell and Gatlen Halfhill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30 at Moore Funeral Home, Brazil, with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating and burial with military honors to follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.

The family will accept friends for visitation on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Missionary Church Missions, envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
