Family Support Services has finalized its search for a new executive director and hired Scott Monnett of Greencastle.

Monnett has more than 15 years of experience in not-for-profit executive leadership, including fundraising, community relations, program development, partnership engagement and mission advancement.

He has previously worked in the family and youth service recreation and enrichment industry through Parks and Recreation, YMCA and Boys & Girls clubs in Lafayette, Zionsville, Spencer, Fort Wayne and Orlando and Gainesville, Fla.

“Scott has the leadership qualities and the passion for families that will move Family Support Services forward from good to great,” FSS Board President Tammy Hunter commented.

Already hitting the ground running, Monnett said, “I am excited to lead an organization with an amazing staff and such a rich history of serving the community. Supporting the growth and development of healthy families is something I have done my entire career. I look forward to digging deeper in every community we serve, forming new partnerships, collaborations and relationships to help support families who need it. Together, we will strive to live in communities that are free of domestic, sexual and workplace violence.

“Strong communities start with healthy families and we will be the leader in providing the tools and resources needed for every family to be successful.”

Along with his organization and operations management experience, Monnett has served as a national trainer and small not-for-profit consultant in the areas of annual campaign development, project management, strategic planning, brand recognition planned giving and board development and looks forward to working with other not-for-profits in the region to help increase the community’s capacity to serve.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University with a major in sports studies, exercise science and fitness management.

Monnett also holds multiple industry-specific certifications, including Fund Development, Advanced Leadership, Project Management, Board Development and Organizational Leadership.

Scott and his wife, Laura, live in Greencastle with their three children.

“I look forward to meeting other community leaders and welcome the opportunity to share ideas.” Monnett said.

He can be reached at the Family Support Services office at 653-4820 or via email at scott.monnett@pcfss.net.

  • It’s all good, but to be great more emphasis needs to be placed on serving victims without worrying about time restraints in the process.
