Alfred E. Havens, 98, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018.

Born Dec. 31, 1919 in Terre Haute, he was the son of Albert Elwood and Olive Rose Mae Myers Havens.

He married Billie Lou Clark on Nov. 13, 1948, and she survives.

Mr. Havens began his 54-year career with the railroad at New York Central, continued with Penn Central and retired as an engineer from Conrail in 1991.

He was an U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Whitestone Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Lou Havens; sons Michael (Debbie) Havens of Greencastle, Mark Havens of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

His parents, brother, two sisters and two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 in the Whitestone Christian Church with burial to follow at 3 p.m. in the Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service time in the church.
