Rep. Baird to speak Tuesday during Indiana Military Veterans Legislative Day

Monday, January 8, 2018

INDIANAPOLIS -- District 44 State Rep. Jim Baird (R-Greencastle), a Vietnam War veteran, will make remarks Tuesday, Jan. 9 during the 2018 Indiana Military Veterans Legislative Day at the Indiana State Capitol.

The fourth annual event for the IMVLD, co-sponsored by Baird and State Rep. John Bartlett, is intended to get veterans together with their legislators to discuss specific issues our veterans and their families face.

Veterans, their spouses, significant others, caretakers, and their children and families, in general, are encouraged to attend.

The group will rally at the intersection location on Robert Orr Plaza and West Street at 9 a.m. for a march to the statehouse. Marchers will move east on Robert Orr Plaza toward Senate Street entrance at the Statehouse on the lower level.

Indiana Military Veterans Legislative Day is a bipartisan event. Planning and coordination are done by a veteran volunteer committee and spans across many organizations and individuals.

The statehouse event begins at 10:30 a.m. inside the south wing on the main floor (floor 2).

The event is designed to connect Hoosier veterans and their families with their Indiana General Assembly senators and representatives regarding veteran-specific legislation during the 2018 Indiana General Assembly session.

Following the 10:30 program and remarks by Gov. Eric Holcomb as well as Reps. Baird and Bartlett, a lunch and meet-and-greet session is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a legislation information session set for 1:15-2:15 p.m.
