Bowling regional tourney set for Saturday
The Wabash Valley South High School Bowling Conference had its team sectionals on Saturday at Lebanon.
Nine boys and co-ed teams competed for three spots in the regional at Plaza Lanes in Crawfordsville on Saturday.
The teams bowled 12 games of baker format, with the to three teams then bowling in a step-ladder to roll off for determining the sectional champion.
Western Boone defeated Southmont for the chance to battle top-seeded North Putnam for the title.
Western Boone won the first game by 10 pins, but North Putnam, but North Putnam came back in the second game to win by 44 points and win the sectional title.
On Sunday, the conference held the individual sectionals.
Greencastle students Caleb Coy and Megan Friars qualified third and first, respectively, for the stepladder of the individuals.
Coy won his first roll-off game, but lost his second match to finish third.
Friars, the top seed, only had to compete in the final roll-off for the girls and won to become the sectional champion.
Both Coy and Friars will also compete in the regional on Saturday at Crawfordsville.
