Tiger Sharks send out seniors well with wins over WV

Greencastle’s Tiger Sharks swimming teams said goodbye to their senior members on Wednesday with big wins over West Vigo.

“They are all very, very important to our team,” GHS coach Kent Menzel said. “Grace Gillen, Preston Headley, Jackson Kendall, Jack Riggle and J.J. Custis have all done amazing work as swimmers and as team leaders.”

Menzel noted the team swam “off” events in the meet.

“Nonetheless we were very sharp,” he said. “It was a great night to see our freshman swimmers [Sydney Anderson, Abigail Beauchamp, Zoe Carter, Emma Crowe, Paige Kaiser, Gillian Monnett, Mariah Monnett, Emma Tobin, Katie White and Anastasia Wood] step up and all record lifetime best performances.

“Those swimmers will be the key to our efforts at the WIC meet this weekend,” he added. “So it was great to see them gearing up for the challenge.”

The WIC meet will be at Indian Creek on Saturday. Greencastle is the two-time defending champion for both boys and girls.
