Richard Alan ‘Dick’ Hemingway

Richard Alan ‘Dick’ Hemingway, 86, of Greencastle, formerly of Danville and Avon, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018 at his home.

Dick was born in Enid, Okla., a son of William and Frances (Anning) Hemingway.

He graduated from Enid High School and attended IUPUI in Indianapolis for two years.

Dick had been an air traffic controller at Weir Cook Airport in Indianapolis for 13 years, a quality control administrator at Diamond Chain in Indianapolis, then returning to government employment at Crane Naval Weapons Support Center in Crane, retiring in 1996.

He was a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Danville, and a former president of the board of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at St. Augustine Episcopal Church with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Burial of his cremains will take place in the Danville South Cemetery at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Lee (Webb); Patti (Mark) Henson, Plainfield, and Paula (Rick) Batchelor, Bainbridge; grandchildren, Matt Henson, Cody (Destinee) Batchelor and R.J. Batchelor; brothers, William Hemingway and James (Holly) Hemingway; and his adopted family of Rev. Dennis and Mary Kay Latta family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to St. Augustine Episcopal Church Lift Fund.
