Gerald L. 'Gary' Buis

Gerald L. "Gary" Buis, 79, Fillmore, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at Mill Pond Health Campus, Greencastle.

He was born at Coatesville, Ind., on Sept. 8, 1938 the son of Emmett Frank and Margaret Blue Buis.

He married Sandra Jo "Sandy" Coleman Buis, and she preceded him on March 11, 2013.

He is survived by his children, Cindy (Danny) Scobee, Fillmore, Charles "Chuck" Buis, Coatesville, and Allen Buis, Spencer; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Reitzel, Stilesville, Carolyn Curtis, Indianapolis, Janet Stroud, Stilesville, and Wanda Chandler, Coatesville.

He was preceded by his parents, wife, son Timothy Buis, daughter-in-law Rebecca Buis, grandson Billy Comer and brothers Norman and Clyde Buis.

Gary was a life-long farmer, tending the family farm. Gary was a avid fisherman.

He was affectionately known as "Papa Smurf."

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville, with calling from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will be in Coatesville Cemetery.
