Betty J. Stites, 94, of North Vernon, formerly of Greencastle, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at her residence.

Betty was born in Greencastle on Feb. 29, 1924, the daughter of Wm. “Nez” and Maude Mae (Marsh) Kirkham. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School.

Mrs. Stites enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and carpentry.

Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Wiggins (husband George) of North Vernon and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Corey Wiggins, both of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Charles Stites; a son, John Stites; four brothers, Scott, Bob, Bill and Wayne Kirkham; and a sister, Bernadine Shinn.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Champion officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
