Area 30 students top performers at regional SkillsUSA competition

Students of the Area 30 Career Center once again did their school proud and performed at the top of the regional SkillsUSA competition that took place recently at Vincennes University. Students of the Area 30 Career Center once again did their school proud and performed at the top of the regional SkillsUSA competition that took place recently at Vincennes University.

Lainey Willis (North Putnam High School), Jesse Denny (Greencastle High School) and Ryan Muse (NPHS) took first, second and third place, respectively, in electronics technology.

Robert Froderman (GHS) took second in architectural drafting.

Andrew Monnett (Cloverdale High School) took fifth in internetworking.

Wyatt Lewis (GHS), Charles Gorman (South Putnam High School), Keaton Boswell (GHS), Marcus Burdine (NPHS) and Kaitlyn Patterson (GHS) took first, second, third, fourth and fifth place, respectively, in information technology repair.

Jacob Roberts (CHS) took first in motorcycle technology.

Jakob Foxworthy (Eminence High School) and Jacob Harris (GHS) took first and second place, respectively, in marine technology.

Nick Stranger and Trent Ayers (both of NPHS) took first and second place, respectively, in power equipment technology.

Randy Terhune (SPHS) took first in auto refinishing technology.

Zachary Wagoner and Dustin Zeh (both of EHS) took first and second, respectively, in collision repair technology.

These students will move on to the state competition set for April 13-14 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

SkillsUSA competitions have been historically victorious for the Area 30 Career Center.

Last year 19 students qualified for state in auto refinishing, auto collision repair, marine technology, architectural drafting and information technology services. At state, students placed first in computer systems networking quiz bowl. They also placed first in computer networking quiz bowl in 2016 as well as mobile robotics.
