A Civil Servant

State Rep. Jim Baird (R-Greencastle) receives a 2018 Civility in Government Award from Ralph Foley (right), president of the Association of Retired Members of the Indiana General Assembly, in the Indiana Supreme Court Chamber Tuesday at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. The award recognizes legislators who show courtesy and respect to other members and the public; exhibit politeness and appreciation for the rights and responsibilities of others; communicate to develop trust and to find common ground to reach resolution; maintain emotional control and demeanor so as to reflect positively on and to generate respect for the General Assembly; and hold the belief that it is a privilege to serve in the legislature. Baird represents House District 44, which includes all of Putnam County and portions of Clay, Parke, Owen and Morgan counties.
