Boys' sectional basketball pairings drawn

The Indiana High School Athletic Association drew the pairings for next week’s boys’ basketball state tournament on Sunday.

At South Putnam, North Putnam will open the tourney on Tue., Feb. 27, against Cascade.

Cloverdale will play Monrovia in Tuesday’s second game.

The Clovers are the three-time defending sectional champions.

The North Putnam-Cascade winner will meet Covenant Christian in the first semifinal on Fri., March 2, while South Putnam will meet the Cloverdale-Monrovia survivor in the second semifinal.

At Lebanon, Greencastle will play the opening game on Wed., Feb. 28, against Western Boone.

The winner meets the Crawfordsville-Benton Central winner in the semifinals.

Tri-West was the sectional champion last year when the tourney was played at Greencastle, but has been moved to Beech Grove this year.

Semifinal games are March 2 and championship games for all sectionals will be March 3.
