UPDATE: Bicyclist killed in vehicle crash on SR 243 near Lieber SRA

CLOVERDALE -- A bicyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by an oncoming pickup truck on State Road 243 in front of Lieber State Recreation Area.

Michael Gilham, 55, of Poland, was was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup was operated by Lisle Kimble, 69, of Cloverdale.

The incident took place around 1:50 p.m. A passerby reported a crash had occurred near the intersection of State Road 243 and County Road 1175 South.

Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the scene and located Gilham entrapped underneath a pickup truck.

Conservation Officers and other first responders were able to remove the pickup truck to extricate Gilham from underneath the vehicle.

The incident is still under investigation by Conservation Officers. An autopsy was set for 8 a.m. Wednesday at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.

Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Cloverdale Fire Department, Cloverdale Police Department, Operational Life, Putnam County Coroner and Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
