The Great Penny Wars

Courtesy photo The end of Cloverdale Middle School’s annual “penny wars” saw Principal Dawn Tucker (above) and Administrative Assistant Christian Frye (below) duct-taped to the wall. The wars are run by the Student Council and are part of the “Pennies for Patients” fundraiser benefiting Riley Hospital. Each classroom is equipped with a penny box, and students vote by adding contributions to a staff member’s bucket during lunches. This year, more than $1,000 in pennies created a tie.
